A warrant is an order from a judge for the police to arrest someone. Judges issue warrants when they want to get a person into their court for a criminal charge against that person.
Warrants are usually called an arrest warrants, county warrants, or a bench warrant.
Unserved warrants are referred to as outstanding warrants.
Warrants are issued by courts from judges. They are then sent to police stations and police databases.
The police are ordered to serve the warrant by arresting that person.
